Deer Season Starts 11/27/2006

Monday, November 27th is the start of the two week deer season in Pennsylvania. The Stone Valley Forest and Weaver Forest are open to the public for hunting (some restrictions apply near buildings, dwellings and high education use areas). The Spring Creek Forest (near State College and Penn State Campus) is also open to the public for hunting with some restrictions. Visit the "Hunting on Penn State Lands" website to see where you can hunt the Spring Creek Forest. Once at the site click on the phrase"Maps of PSU Hunting Lands (Through CentreMap)". When hunting PSU forestland please abide by the PSU rules and regulations in addition to the PAGC laws. While hunting please do not block any gates or roadways. Stone Valley Forest brochures have been created and distributed throughout the Stone Valley Forest. The free brochures include a detailed map of the area and are located on map boards placed at high use road intersections.

Visit this link for information on recent management activities at the Weaver Forest.

Please report any possible hunting violations to the PAGC Southcentral Region. Feel free to report hunting success stories or unique sightings to bah173@psu.edu.

Good Luck
