Winter 2004-2005 Forest Boundary Marking Season Ends

The arrival of spring marks the end of the forest boundary marking season. The Penn State Forestland Management Office maintains over 55 miles of forest boundary. Forest boundaries are identified by chest high blazed rectangles painted white (in some areas plastic signs are also posted). The white rectangles are visable as you enter and exit PSU forestlands. The Stone Valley Forest has 49 miles of identified boundary and the Weaver Forest has 5 miles of identified boundary the Spring Creek Forest currently has very little forest boundary identified. The PSU Forestland Management Office staff strives to mark 15 miles of boundary annually while the trees are dormant. 18 miles of boundary were marked during the winter 2004-2005 season.
