NOTES: The site was established naturally prior to 1900. The stand was free to grow for 100+ years. Blowdown had become common, especially in the White Pines, as the stand matured. The stand was schedule to be managed during Period 2(1994-1999) of the Stone Valley Forest Management Plan 1989 to 2038. Undesirable softwood prices and the stand's small acreage resulted in the extension of the stand's rotation. The recent harvest operation was partially mechanized and very efficient. Skidding occurred throughout the site to prepare the forest floor for regeneration. The operator was very careful while felling and skidding and kept barking of residual trees to a minimum (certain trees, if struck, are susceptible to bark slippage while actively growing). Future treatments may include a chemical herbicide control of grapevine and a final removal of the residual overstory in approximately 4 years.
