Penn State Forestland Quick Facts

  • Public access is permitted year-round, unless otherwise posted.

  • All lands are easily accessible from public roads.

  • All lands are within a 25-minute drive from the University Park Campus and State College.

  • Four wheelers, three wheelers, or motorbikes are not permitted on any forest road or trail.

  • Hunting and fishing are permitted in accordance with current Pennsylvania game and fish laws; this includes inside deer exclusion fences, unless otherwise posted.

  • Primitive camping is permitted in specific areas with a free permit. To obtain a permit contact the Forestland Management Office at 814-865-6272 or e-mail psuforestmgmt@psu.edu .

  • Firewood cutting permits are available for $20.00 for 3 cords (A cord = 4' x 4' x 8'). To obtain a permit contact the Forestland Management Office at 814-865-6272 or e-mail psuforestmgmt@psu.edu
