PSU Forestry Research Presented at SAF National Convention

Chris Dahl (SFR M.S. Graduate Student) and Brent Harding (PSU FLMO Forester and part time SFR M.S. Graduate Student) under the guidance of Drs. Finley and Wiant presented at the 2005 Society of American Foresters National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. The presentation titled "Technological Advancements May Increase Efficiency and Precision in Sawtimber Volume Estimations" was delivered during the Friday afternoon session of the "Forest Resources Measurements" track. The presentation was well attended and well received.

The presentation focused on aspects of our non-traditional sawtimber volume estimation research we have been conducting in cooperation with the Penn State Forestland Management Office since the summer of 2004. The presentation reported and compared the findings of four sawtimber inventory methods by evaluating the volume estimations, time differences, cost changes and statistical significances associated with each method.
