Double Block Artificial Regeneration Project Completed

The 19.81 acre Double Block clearcut was artificially regenerated in early April 2005 by a five person hand planting crew from Delmarva Forestry Services of Salisbury, MD. The hand planting crew planted 20,000 two year old bare root Pitlolly Pine seedlings with dibble bars on a 6' by 6' spacing. The seedlings were purchased from MeadWestvaco of Ravenel, SC. 1/100 acre fixed area quality control plots were randomly inventoried during the planting to check spacing, planting depth, seedling orientation and root orientation. Survival rates, growth and deer damage will be monitored as the seedlings grow.
