Job Opportunities
The Penn State
Forestland Management Office is an excellent venue for forestry
students to obtain relevant hands on experience in forest
management. Since 1989 thirty-eight students have been employed
through the Penn State Forestland Management Office. Over
72% of those students have become professional foresters.
An employee of the Penn State Forestland Management Office
can expect to be exposed to state of the art GIS, GPS and
electronic data collection integrated with progressive 21st
century forest management techniques.

Andy
Laux (Information Sciences and Technology) is a fall semester
2006 student intern. Andy uses his ability to create computer
code to assist our technology specialist with software updates
and custom solutions. His current projects include:

Damian Houseknecht (Forest
Sciences) is a fall semester 2006 student intern. His efforts
this semester will focus on: |

creating a wireless solution for data transfer between field
computers and lasers/DMEs/digital relascopes

creating a voice recognition solution for data entry for
field computers
